> Click and Pixel
Click and Pixel refers to my love for film photography (the click of the shutter) and my recent delving into digital photography. I've always leaned towards the alternative processes in photography, be it Polaroid instants, Polaroid transfers, liquid light, pinhole and various plastic and toy cameras. In alternative photography the magic is often in the mishap, a light leak, a color shift, a brush mark in the emulsion, things out of focus. When digital photography began, I stuck to my film cameras. I thought well that's just a bunch of pixels, you lose the whole process, and for me art is so much about process. When I bought my first smart phone two years ago I started meddling with the photo apps. They were all trying to replicate the effects achieved in toy cameras, instant and vintage films. I started to get images I liked but I still thought I was cheating. I came around when I realized that I am shooting a digital image and printing it digitally, it IS authentic in it's own low brow art kind of a way. And I rather like low brow art. -Amy Rowan
